2 cloves garlic, minced

2 carrots, peeled and finely diced

1 cup dried lentils
1 (15 ounce) can black beans, drained and rinsed
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon Kosher or sea salt, more or less to taste
